Arrive at Ca' Marcello, a perfect example of “Palladianism”, a 16th-century structure rebuilt, decorated and furnished in the 18th century. Everything is from the latter period. The owner welcomes guests and accompanies them on a guided visit, bringing to life stories of his ancestors, doges, celebrated musicians, painters, intellectuals… The Villa radiates decorum, elegance and culture.
After the visit, guests can enjoy a lunch of Veneto specialties in a private room of the Villa or in the park.
Villa Contarini at Piazzola sul Brenta is the official headquarters of the Region of Veneto on the mainland, and immense and sumptuous residence. Visitors will see numerous finely furnished and decorated rooms intended to enchant guests with their theatricality and grandiosity, and will ear stories about the historical events illustrated on the frescoed walls. The Villa was designed for revelry and celebrations, and still today one can easily imagine balls, carousels, nautical-themed parties and banquets. The vast Park with its fish ponds, lakes and tree-lined avenues is also of exceptional beauty.
The afternoon concludes with a visit to Villa Gallarati Scotti’s grand (roughly 6-hectare), perfectly conserved historic English-style garden. The stylistic elements of the romantic park are prevalent; the designer’s aim was create a new natural environment, modifying the geography of the place with a delightfully theatrical and fanciful landscape in which art and nature are combined to the point of becoming indivisible and indistinguishable.
The park contains a remarkable variety of plants and trees, some of them are centuries-old.
